Allen Koranda graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1964, receiving the Philip R. Clarke Citizen Athlete Award. Subsequently he attended Northwestern University graduating in 1968 with honors earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science. In 1971 he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law. After practicing law for a brief period of time he joined Mid America Bank headquartered in Clarendon Hills. He became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank in 1984 and in 1990 with the conversion of the Bank to a public company, became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MAF Bancorp. The Bank is a leading residential lender and has received an outstanding rating under the Community Reinvestment Act for supporting the communities it serves. Professionally related service has included past Chairmanship of the Chicagoland Association of Financial Institutions and of the Illinois League of Savings Institutions. He presently serves as a Director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and as a Director of America s Community Bankers. Allen Koranda has previously served as a board member of Hinsdale Consolidated School District 181. He presently is a Trustee and Treasurer of the Rodney Stuart Kroehler/Peter Winston Friend Scholarship Foundation, which grants awards to graduating Hinsdale Central students. He is also a Director of the Wellness House and the President of the Wellness House Foundation. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and was named to the Who s Who in Chicago Business by Crain s Chicago Business. Mr. Koranda has three married children, Kerry Koranda, Kara Pfouts and Krista Coleman as well as two infant grandchildren who he looks forward to watching grow. He lives in Hinsdale being a life long resident of the Hinsdale area. |
