Inductee Year 2000
Jim Eggert
Jim graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1973 where he participated in football, gymnastics, hockey & track. But his career actually began with him serving as a fire cadet while a teenager; following in the footsteps of his father – Don Eggert – who was an officer with the Hinsdale Fire Department. Jim eventually took a full-time position with the Tri-State Fire Protection District where he rose in the ranks to the highest ranking position – that of Chief Administrator. He was also very community-minded, while in high school, participating in the Key Club organization. He followed up his interest in this by becoming a Key Club advisor for Hinsdale South High School – culminating in his receiving the Illinois Eastern Iowa District of Key Club International Raymond S. Blunt Jr. Award in 1996 for outstanding dedication to Hinsdale South High School students. His involvement in community activities (all the more remarkable considering the demands of someone overseeing the safety needs of over 40,000 people) is unwavering. He has served on the Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber, Public Assistance to Deliver Shelter and as President of the Rotary Club of Darien, IL. Another watershed moment under Jim’s watch came when the Tri-State Fire Protection Agency received the prestigious Class-2 Insurance Rating (ISO) in the spring of 2000 – for superior response and preparation in the district. And recently, he oversaw the annexation of district property in Willowbrook to gain a fire station, thus giving fire protection to all areas of the Tri-State FPD district. Jim is married to Christine and they have one son – Christian.
