Membership level: Hall of Fame David Stone Inductee Year 2022 | |
David Stone is a 1968 Hinsdale Central graduate. David is the living embodiment of the “Red Devil Spirit” with his commitment to family, friends, and the community where so many call home and have raised their families. He was a committed scholar-athlete throughout high school and while attending Washington & Lee University in Virginia. After graduation, David taught English and coached basketball at a private boy’s school in Virginia before moving back to Hinsdale with his wife Meg where they have raised their three kids within the Hinsdale school system. While raising his family in Hinsdale, David coached both his son’s basketball teams, the Hinsdale Falcon Football league as well as starting a traveling baseball team for his oldest son Matt. Throughout all these years of coaching and raising a family with his wife Meg, David carried out a professional career in Financial and Wealth Management Services. During these years of raising his family in Hinsdale, he lost a dear High School friend and Hinsdale Swimming legend, Charlie Nieman, whom David and others in the Class of 1968 were very close to. Following Charlie’s passing, David took the initiative to start and run an annual scholarship fund through a golf outing in Charlie Nieman’s name and raise an annual scholarship annuity for a member of the Hinsdale High School Central swimming team, as selected by its members. That scholarship golf outing, now in its 31st year, has provided ongoing educational financial assistance to countless members of the HTHSC swimming team every year and continues to do so today. When the class of 1968 had its recent 50th HTHSC Reunion and volunteers for the planning committee were scarce, David and Meg jumped in with both feet and made it an event to remember for everyone who was able to attend. If you ever get an email from Dave or talk to him on the phone about anything, the last words you’ll here are… “Always a Red Devil.” Dave Stone is what Hinsdale has always been about: family, friends, community, service and caring about all that every day you get out of bed. David and his wife are lifelong residents of Hinsdale where their three children, Jennifer (class of 2000), Matthew (class of 2004) and Jim (class of 2007) were all graduates of Hinsdale Central. |
