Membership level: Hall of Fame Marigale Murray Briggs Inductee Year 2008 | |
A member of the HCHS class of 1964, the late Marigale Briggs was a distinguished business woman and an inspiration to all who knew her. Educated at Western Illinois University as a speech, audiology and language development pathologist, she was first employed as a second grade teacher before entering the business world where she rose to prominence. She had a very successful career in the fashion merchandising industry at the May Company, Spiegel, Sears, and as Executive Vice President of Perry Ellis International. In 1996, she started her own consulting firm, MGB Associates, specializing in marketing and communication strategy. She found time to be a religious educator at Notre Dame church in Clarendon Hills, and was an active supporter of charitable organizations such as Cancer Care and the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. Marigale received many awards and honors over the years from professional associations, including the “Influential Woman In Chicago Business” award, and honors from charitable organizations. Marigale was an invited speaker at numerous colleges and she was featured in media news articles focusing on successful business women. Marigale passed away in 2005 after a brief and brave battle with breast cancer. She had just begun a term on our Foundation board, and we are proud to honor her as one of our own. |
