Norm Chimenti is a member of the Hinsdale High School graduating class of 1958. While at HTHS, Norm participated in student government and a number of student organizations, and earned varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. In football, he was elected to the 1958 Illinois All-State Football Team and named to the national Prep All American Football Team. He received the 1958 HTHS Citizen- Athlete Award with co-recipient Don Thorne, and he served as student President of the Hinsdale Youth Center. Norm attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, graduating with honors in 1962 with a B.A. degree in behavioral science, and graduated from the Yale Law School in 1967. While at Yale, he earned varsity letters in football and lacrosse. Norm was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps, serving on active duty in 1963 and 64, and in the Active Reserves until 1968. In his professional career, Norm has practiced law first with a large Chicago law firm from 1967 to 1971; then as Vice President and General Counsel for the Kroehler Manufacturing Company from 1971 to 1980; as a private practitioner from 1980 to 1984; as Vice President of Bulkmatic Transport Company from 1984 to 1990; and, a general partner of the Oak Brook law firm of Martin, Craig, Chester & Sonnenschein from 1990 to the present. He is a member of the Labor and Employment Law and Environmental Law Committee of the Chicago and DuPage Count Bar Associations, and is a member of the Illinois Bar Association. In 1993, Norm was appointed by Governor Edgar to the Illinois Small Business Assistance Task Force, and since 1995 has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General to the Illinois Attorney General s Office. He has rendered legal service to a number of not-for-profit Hinsdale organizations. Norm helped to form the Hinsdale Falcon Football Program. Norm was appointed as a member of Hinsdale Plan Commission from 1990 to 1995. Norm served as Chairman of the Plan Commission from 1992 to 1995, and in 1999 served as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Hinsdale Historic Preservation Task Force. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Yale Club in Chicago and of Wellness House, and a Trustee and Executive Committee member of the Community House, a Trustee of the Wellness House Foundation, and the Mishawaka Foundation. Norm contributed to the writing of the four Community Revue productions and served as the Producer of the March, 2002 Community Revue show. He is a co-founder of the new Community House Players community theater group in Hinsdale. Norm is a longtime Hinsdale resident. He is married to B.J. and they have two children, Derek and Chad. He believes that all of the good things which have come his way are a direct result of the love, and support, encouragement and guidance of his parents, his children, and above all, of B.J. |
