Bob Dudley graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1973. He and his sister, Sue, started high school in Hinsdale after growing up in Mississippi. He was a member of the Hinsdale Central Swimming Team and an officer of the Guard organization. He joined Amoco in Chicago in 1979 where he moved to a variety of engineering, commercial and strategy posts in Houston, the UK North Sea, Russia and China, until the merger of BP and Amoco in 1998. In 1999 Bob became Executive Assistant to the BP CEO in London. Subsequently, he was appointed Vice President, Renewables and Alternative Energy responsible for BP's wind and solar businesses. He followed that with the post of Vice President, Exploration and Production, with accountability for Russia, the Caspian, Angola, Algeria and Egypt. From 2003-2008 Bob served as President and CEO of TNK-BP, an independent joint venture in Moscow. In April 2009, Bob became an Executive Vice President on the BP Board, with accountability for BP's activities in The Americas and Asia. He was later appointed Chief Executive of BP plc in October 2010. During 2010 Bob also served as President and CEO of BP's Gulf Coast Restoration organization in the USA. Bob has a Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois, a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and an MBA from SMU. Bob's external roles include membership of The US Business Council, The World Economic Forum International Business Council, the UK/UAE CEO's Forum, the UK/Turkey CEO's Forum, is an economic advisor to the city of Chongqing in China, and a member of the Russian Geographical Society, In December 2009 Bob was awarded an Honorary CBE by the UK for services to global energy security and industry. Bob and Mary have been married for 32 years and live in London. They have two children. |
