Graduating in 1961 from Hinsdale Township High School, Bill Shean went to the University of Michigan as an Evans Scholar. He received his B.A. degree in 1965. He is president of Shean & Company representing the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company for more than 35 years. Golf is Bill s passion. In 1998 and 2000 Golf Digest magazine selected him as the Number One Senior Amateur Golfer in the world. Along with Arnold Palmer and two others, he is one of golf s elite to hold concurrently both the United States Golf Association and British Championships Not bad for someone who took up the game at age 13 after caddying at Hinsdale Golf Club. Besides playing golf, Bill is a very active member of the Western Golf Association (WGA) and has been the General Chairman of the Western Open. He also generously gives his time to Christ Church of Oakbrook and its various missionary and philanthropic activities. Bill Shean married Lyn in 1967 and they have three children Skip, Mike and Katie. All three are graduates of Hinsdale Central. |
